Being a new mom has been much more enjoyable than I ever imagined. No one can really prepare you for parenthood; you have to just make the best judgments as you go along. But having a happy baby is vital to the new baby’s development. And to achieve that, there are a few unspoken rules to help your child become the best human being that he or she is destined to be.
Here are 3 of my own personal values that you can use to help raise a happy infant:
1. Whenever your baby first wakes up, always give him a big smile. The good energy from your “vibes” can keep your baby from crying all day. If you are sad or frustrated, this can be difficult. When your baby is crying and you’re beyond tired, smiling is the most difficult emotion to muster. And believe me, no one likes a crying baby, especially one that cries all the time. So even if your baby is mad about having his diaper changed or not feeling well, don’t take it out on the baby. Just smile and use your soothing voice to make your baby feel good and know how much he or she is loved!
2. Another way to make your child happy is to take them places, even if it’s just to the bank or the store. It may be a pain to tow the baby just to get a coffee, but allowing them to explore new things will allow your baby to learn about his world. Let other people hold your baby and encourage your baby to be friendly to all people. Teaching your children how wonderful other people are is a great way to instill good values right away. My son loves meeting everyone!
3. Start teaching your baby from DAY ONE. The most important thing to create a happy child is by starting learning with them as a baby, reading books, index cards etc. It stimulates their little minds and you will see a huge advancement in your baby’s development. Some people think that newborns are too young, but I can tell you from personal experience that our son LOVES books and index cards and learning. He is so proud when we tell him he is a “good boy”.
